Chocolate Hazelnut Candy, THM S, SF, Keto

Do you need another candy for the Christmas holiday? These hazelnut candies are so good and best of all, they are sugar-free! Hazelnuts and chocolate just go so well together. This truffle filling surrounding the hazelnut is smooth and creamy and with the crunch of the nut this candy is just awesome!

I use mostly Lily Chocolate Chips in my baking and desserts since they are readily available at Walmart and large supermarkets. Lily’s Chocolates are sweetened with Stevia and have a wonderful taste and texture. The milk chocolates are the best, but they also have quite a number of flavors such as mint, butterscotch, salted caramel, dark, and seasonal flavors like pumpkin spice.

  • Truffle filling:
  • 7 ounces sugar-free chocolate, I used half Lily’s butterscotch chips and half Lily’s dark chocolate chips
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1 tablespoon THM Gentle Sweet
  • Coating:
  • 50 whole hazelnuts
  • 10 ounces sugar-free chocolate, dark or milk chocolate
  • Making the truffle filling: In a glass microwave bowl heat the cream cheese and cream to almost a boil. Add the chocolate chips. Stir. Allow the mixture to set for 2-3 minutes. Add the sweetener. Stir again. If the chocolate chips are not totally melted, heat in the microwave for 15 second increments, stirring after each time, until the chocolate chips are totally melted. Cool in the refrigerator until the truffle filling is like playdough, thickened but still pliable.
  • Molding the candies: Mold a slightly rounded teaspoon of truffle filling around a hazelnut. repeat until you have used 40-42 hazelnuts. Set them aside.
  • Coating: Coarsely chop the remaining hazelnuts to use to sprinkle over the dipped candies. Set aside. Melt 10 ounces of chocolate in the microwave in 15 second increments or use a candy melting pot until smooth. Dip each candy into the melted chocolate to coat. I use a plastic fork with the center two tines broken out if I do not have a candy dipping tool. Lay each candy on a parchment covered sheet to harden. Sprinkle each candy with the chopped hazelnuts as soon as you place it on the parchment paper. 42 hazelnut candies

I allow the truffle filling to set up in the fridge. I knead it a bit to be able to mold it around the hazelnuts.

Here is the candy ready to be dipped into the melted chocolate. You can use either milk, dark, or a mix of the two kinds to coat the balls.

These hazelnut candied will make a lovely addition to your holiday table; that is is you can hide them long enough to serve them to your guests. They are just that good!

I love all the layers in these candies. The crunchy nut, the smooth filling, and the chocolate and nut coating pair together for a wonderful treat!!!

Christmas wouldn’t be complete without candy! Here are a few of my candy recipes to add to your favorites for this holiday season.

Salted Caramel Chocolates are another crowd pleaser at holidays. The addition of browned butter in this caramel gives a wonderful flavor that can’t be beat.

Best of all–these are sugar, dairy, and gluten-free! Coconut Cream Truffles are delicious, creamy with the just the right burst of coconut flavor. You even have the option of coating them 3 different ways. My favorite coating for these truffles is dark chocolate. There is something about dark chocolate and coconut that I love!

These Raspberry Truffles are smooth, creamy, and have just the right burst of raspberry flavor. Best of all, they are sugar-free. And if you don’t have time, you don’t even have to dip them in chocolate. The creamy centers are so delicious eaten right out of the fridge
