Peach Frozen Yogurt, THM E, SF, GF

Advertisements

Peaches herald the month of August with their sweet juiciness. I could hardly wait until I could buy a basket for our local produce stand. Best of all, they had my favorite kind for fresh eating….Red Haven!

Peaches are a native fruit of northwest China on the north slopes of the Kunlun Mountains where they were first domesticated and cultivated. Peaches and nectarines are in the same species but they are regarded as totally different fruit by commercial growers. Nectarines do not have the fuzz that peaches do.

This very simple dessert only uses 5 ingredients which makes it so easy to make. There are very few THM E desserts or Ice Creams but this is an easy E dessert/ice cream. There is just a little bit of cream added to help keep the frozen yogurt creamy. It is not enough to push it into a THM Crossover.

I peeled 2 of the peaches and the other 2 I left the peeling on. It helped to give the frozen yogurt a better color and a great flavor. I do have a Vitamix Blender so I am sure that helped to get the mixture smooth.

I was quite pleased with the consistency of the Frozen Yogurt. It was thick and creamy. So delicious and best of all it had very little fat in it so it could be served as an E dessert. I have a Cuisinart 1.5 Quart Frozen Yogurt Ice Cream Maker which I love. It makes the best ice cream. This Ice Cream maker has a canister that you keep in the freezer so that it is ready whenever you want to make ice cream.

If there is any frozen yogurt left I freeze it in small individual containers. If you remove a container and let it set at room temperature for 15-20 minutes. Then it is just perfect to eat!

This is the kind of ice cream maker I have…I love how easy it is to use.

I love my Vitamix blender. My children gave it to me for my Christmas present this past year. It works very well to blend the peaches smooth.

I often buy Mexican Vanilla and we love it. You can get either the dark or the clear. When you are making frosting/icing I love to use the clear so the frosting stay white.
