Bread is a prominent food staple in many parts of the world. It is one of the oldest man-made foods recorded in history. To many of us, when we think of bread, we think of white fluffy bread. But did you know that white bleached flour has very little value in it and really isn’t that good for you? But you can make soft, fluffy bread with nutrition value by using sprouted whole wheat flour.

Chewy, crusty, artisan Sourdough Bread studded with sun-dried tomatoes, garlic, and basil smells so wonderful while it is being baked and is just as delightful to the taste buds! Spread it with a bit of salty cultured butter and you have a treat!

Summer has arrived and with it grilling and barbecues. Hamburgers are a favorite of most people to grill and sourdough buns add that special touch to your menu. These buns can be placed on the grill split side down to toast just before serving. That gives an awesome burger joint touch and is so yummy!

Baked beans are a long standing tradition at barbecues, picnics and potlucks. In the off canning season I will pressure can quarts of baked beans to have on hand for the summer months. Homemade baked beans are so much better than bought and you can control what you put in them.

Naan Breads are a soft pillowy flatbread native to India and parts of South and west Asia. Yogurt is added to the dough t give it its unique flavor and soft tender texture. These breads are cooked in a special oven called a tandoor. However, you can make them in a cast iron skillet, too. The garlic and cilantro gives these breads a wonderful flavor. The soft, chewy texture is hard to beat. I will use these naan breads to make Fish Gyros with a yogurt sauce. So delicious!!

Onion and Chive Dinner Rolls are such a treat with any meal. The flavors of the onions, chives and herbs go so well with just a dab of butter.

Have you ever had Potato bread or rolls? An additional of potatoes keeps the bread/rolls moist and soft. This No-knead Sourdough Potato Bread combines sourdough and potatoes into a wonderful, moist, chewy bread. I love the texture and flavor!
